Recognizing the legal right of same-sex couples to marry doesn’t harm the institution of marriage. More people will become part of it. And their hard-won right to marry will be more respected than the one given by tradition to heterosexuals, whose children are more likely to be abused than the children of same-sex couples. (No child is an accident and some heterosexuals who accidentally conceive children aren’t fit to raise them.) The work same-sex couples must put into becoming parents—conceiving or adopting a child—decreases the likelihood of child abuse dramatically (in one study of lesbian households to ZERO) because those children are wanted and treated as children should be. What’s immoral about that? NOTHING.
